The Marine Science Center is part of the Institute for Biosciences of the University of Rostock. The ongoing research on marine mammals as well as past research on octopods and penguins fits the marine biological and zoological branch of the institute perfectly as well as the general scientific concept of the University of Rostock which focuses its academic profiling on interdisciplinary research and maritime systems (Interdisciplinary faculty, Department "Maritime Systems"). Our research is inspired by the resulting manifold possibilities for interdisciplinary projects.
