Cephalopds

Since June 2012 cephalopods (at the moment we do not have cephalopods in our aquarium, but we hope that this is going to change soon) are housed in a 3000 litres seawater aquarium on the institute ship. The aquarium is divided into four compartments in order to possibly separate animals if needed since especially octopods are highly territorial. The cephalopods are being kept at the Marine Science Center in order to investigate their much vaunted cognitive and learning abilities. Furthermore, there are many aspects of their sensory systems that need to be investigated.
